Meet the Team

Wayne is the HTA Technical Horticulture Manager and OHAS Scheme Manager. Working with the Assurance Scheme Executive, and alongside the OHAS Technical Committee, Wayne has responsibility for development of the Scheme and to make sure the Scheme meets the needs of the membership and their customers. Wayne has been involved with the Scheme from its infancy in a number of different roles.

Amber joins the HTA as the Groups, Committees and Assurance Scheme Executive, her role is to provide administrative support to the OHAS Committee and strengthen existing relationships and communication between its members and the HTA.

Margaret has always had a passion for the cut flower industry, being first involved with her parents cut flower and bulb business. For the past 15 years Margaret has worked for Flamingo International Horticulture, supporting growers and packhouses with the many standards to achieve the best outcome for their own businesses and customers. 

OHAS Grower Standard

Rebecca is the Horticultural Development Manager for Joseph Rochford Gardens Ltd, where she has worked since 2003. Rebecca is responsible for guiding the business through change resulting from external pressures and developing company policy and systems in relation to environment, sustainability and production methods. She has been involved in OHAS since Rochfords joined the scheme in 2006; serving on the technical committee, the board of BOPP, then as chair of OHAS. Having recently stepped down as chair she now sits on the committee. Rebecca is dedicated to ensuring the OHAS scheme works for its members and is fit for purpose for growers, packers and growing media producers and that it stays current to customer needs.

OHAS Growing Media Standard

Andrea has been the Technical Field Sales Manager for Sinclair since 2009, joining the team 5 years prior to this in 2004, as an Area Sales Manager. Andrea has always had a passion for horticulture and studied this at Hadlow college. Her career started as a grower on a large wholesale bedding nursery in Kent, later managing a production unit and sales area for a Grafty Garden Centre. Andrea was responsible for planting the ‘Maidstone Floral Sheep’ and was a regular visitor on the ‘BBC Kent Garden radio programme’.

Andrea relishes the challenge of developing new sustainable peat free growing media, to replace peat and was part of the ‘CP138 Transition to Responsibly Sourced Growing Media Use within the UK’ project. She particularly enjoys working closely with growers, advising them on all aspects of growing media and nutrition.

Andrea has been a committee member for OHAS since 2016 and is Basis and FACTS qualified.

OHAS Grower and Packhouse Standards

Malcolm has been employed by Bordon Hill Nurseries since 1984, after previously working for MAFF and then a local nursery/garden centre. He spent his first 16 years as a grower, then grower supervisor at the Stratford upon Avon site. In 2001, he become more involved in training, health and safety and environmental issues which culminated in getting heavily involved in the BOPP Grower audit. Over the following years, Malcolm helped the business implement OHAS Packhouse, Leaf and more recently Plant Healthy standards in addition to Investors in People. Around that time, he joined the OHAS Technical Committee and in recent years has also been more involved in managing the business temporary labour.

OHAS Packhouse Standard

Jonny is the Responsible Sourcing and Compliance Manager for JZ Flowers. He is responsible for ensuring site compliance to OHAS Packhouse standard and developing and ethical and sustainable initiatives within JZ and its supply chain. He has been a member of the OHAS committee since 2000 and, working with other committee members and British growers, his focus is on ensuring OHAS is the best possible horticulture standard available and champions British seasonal products within the retail sector. JZ Flowers in partnership with the Dutch Flower Group are members of the Floriculture Sustainability Initiative (FSI) and a fully certified Fairtrade organisation for global sourcing.

Amy joined Farplants in 2020, bringing with her 13 years of compliance experience and responsibility for various grower and food production standards. Amy is responsible for compliance at Binsted Nursery and is an active member of the Farplants Compliance Committee.  She also works with the team of growers to improve plant health, and is active in instigating the use of responsible and sustainable growing media within the Farplants Group. She joined the OHAS committee in 2021 and is BASIS and FACTS qualified.
