APL Avenue 2023
A fantastic opportunity to enter APL Avenue 2023
Exclusive Show Garden Competition 2023
APL Designers and Landscaper members are invited to participate in an exclusive competition to build a Show Garden at BBC Gardeners’ World Live 2023.
The winning of a BBC Gardeners’ World Live medal provides valuable accreditation to your company/practice, this year we are opening the competition to both APL designers and design and build landscaping companies. For the seventh year running, the organisers of BBC Gardeners’ World Live, River Street Events, are offering a £15,000 contribution to each of the four designers/D & B companies selected to design and build gardens at the show. In addition, there will be generous sponsorship of materials and supporting benefits including PR, hospitality opportunities and show tickets.
Competition Brief
Brief
The theme of 2023 APL Avenue Show Garden is “Take Me Home”. This theme encourages you to produce a space that inspires others to take home elements from your design and try it for themselves, keeping budget in mind. Obviously there are many other elements you could conjure up from this theme too.
The gardens should be inspirational and aspirational, but with a real focus on realistic budgets. Designs should incorporate achievable elements that reflect a market threatened with the current cost of living crisis so that it is relatable to individuals at the show.
Size
The garden should cover an area of between 60 and 80m2. Please make sure you specify in your design which side you would like the garden to be viewed from if built, and please note the garden should be viewable from at least two sides.
Product Usage – Marshalls, Hedges Direct, Rolawn
Marshall's products used in your scheme will be provided free of cost by Marshall's, however this is restricted to their domestic range only. There is no requirement to use any particular or different types of product, but you must indicate your choices on your plan. You are also welcomed to use products from other providers.
Hedges Direct will also hire product from their range, simply head to their website and select the products you require. If product is not available, the team will suggest a suitable alternative.
Rolawn topsoil and turf is also at your discretion to use, please let the team know the quantities required as early as possible.
